I’m Nathalie, founder of Happy Tails Foundation & Dog Sanctuary in Mauritius. Twelve years ago my British husband and I arrived on this island and were devastated by how many dogs lived neglected, scared and alone on the streets. We couldn’t turn our backs — we had to act. We opened Mauritius’s first dog sanctuary to give those dogs a safe place, gentle care and a real chance at a new life.

Today Happy Tails is home to about 130 dogs at any given time. Every day we nurse wounds, provide veterinary care, socialize shy souls, and teach trust through patience and kindness. Our greatest joy is seeing a frightened dog blossom into a playful, loving companion — and we’re proud to rehome many of them with caring families across Europe, especially in France, the UK, Switzerland and Germany.

Keeping this sanctuary running takes constant resources: dedicated staff, medical treatment, vaccinations, neutering campaigns, food, upkeep and transport for rehoming. Every donation helps us say “yes” to another dog in need instead of facing the heartbreak of turning them away.
